Sarah Prescott
Sarah is an employed barrister with a growing practice in criminal defence. Since her admission to the bar in March 2024, she has been involved in a wide range of criminal matters, working closely alongside senior barrister Jessica Tarrant.
Her work spans to matters involving family violence, drug offending, dishonesty, traffic, property offences and assault charges.
Sarah appears frequently in the District Court, where she handles a broad variety of hearings including pleas, bail applications, case reviews, sentencings, and other pre-trial matters. She has also assisted in trials and appellate work, and brings strong research and analytical skills to complex legal issues.
Before joining Chambers, Sarah worked as a Registrar at the Hamilton District Court and clerked for local defence barristers — experience that gave her a solid grounding in courtroom procedure and insight into how the justice system operates from both sides.
Sarah is known for her sharp legal mind, clear written advocacy, and calm, professional presence in court. She brings a thoughtful and determined approach to each case, and is committed to achieving fair, effective outcomes for her clients. She understands that facing a criminal charge can be overwhelming — and works to ensure clients feel heard, informed, and supported at every stage.
